Houses of Parliament Summer Opening During the Summer Recess the Palace of Westminster, home to the House of Lords and the House of Commons is open for a one hour guided tour, which includes both Chambers and other great State Rooms.

The UK Parliament is one of the oldest representative assemblies in the world. The site of the Houses of Parliament is the Palace of Westminster, a royal palace and former residence of kings. The layout of the Palace is intricate, with its existing buildings containing nearly 1,200 rooms, 100 staircases and well over 3 kilometers (2 miles) of passages. Among the original historic buildings is Westminster Hall, used nowadays for major public ceremonial events.

 

During the Summer Recess the Palace of Westminster, home to the House of Lords and the House of Commons is open for a one hour guided tour, which includes both Chambers and other great State Rooms. The tour starts at Victoria Tower and ends in Historic Westminster Hall.

If you are interested in  exploring the product of the world’s most ancient viniculture regions you have must visit Landmark Hotel. Wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec have turned the Landmark Hotel into a wine buff’s heaven.

The most wonderful was the fact, that wine producers were able to impart their knowledge. They uncovered  the subtleties of soil type, weather and much more.

Regents`s Park is situated in northwest London, this park can offer you variety of fun and leisure. Inside the park is boating lake where you can yet rent a boat and take pictures of birds nesting on an island found in the middle of lake. If you are avid lover of beautifully cultivated flowers you will have memorable experience.

With plenty of chairs and benches around, you could just sit and watch the time pass you by. There is small restaurant inside the park but cup of coffee or tea is expensive. It`s much better if you bring a picnic basket with you.

On the north side of the park is London Zoo. Following recent renovations and installation of new cages you can see endangered species and help the animals by adopting them. It will give you sense of achievement and will really help preserve the Zoo that is always in need of financial support. You can play a game of tennis or if you have come in larger numbers there are plenty of football fields where you can test your skill.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British Royal family and you can now visit certain sections of the Palace.

It includes 19 state rooms, the Ballroom, the picture gallery, the Throne Room, and part of the extensive gardens. Don’t miss the Changing of the Guards on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

It`s very impressive.

Photographic exhibition organized at City Hall. Pictures are taken by young people from five London faith schools portraying their own lives and faith, reflecting their experiences of being young and of their faith in London today and expressing what their faith means to them. It`s worth seeing.

A Parliament has been on this site, next to the River Thames, since the 11th century, however the current gothic Houses of Parliament were built between 1840 and 1888, after a fire in 1834 destroyed most of the original building. You can take a tour around the Houses of Parliament by contacting your local MP or visiting during the Summer Recess. Don’t miss Big Ben attached to the Houses of Parliament building.

Victoria and Albert Museum is located near the Natural History Museum and Science Museum in South Kensington. The V&A is a great museum of art and design, and holds over 3000 years worth of artifacts from many of the world’s richest cultures, inclding the most comprehensive collection of British design and art from 1500 to 1900. There’s furniture, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and much more.

London is world famous for its theatres. From huge long running shows like Les Miserables, to tiny avant guarde performances in small theatres there is something to suit everyone.

Looking back in the day we can find here the Globe Theatre for instance - the place were originally Shakespeare performed. It has been reconstructed to be exactly as it would have been in Shakespeare’s time.

 

So it`s ideal place for Shakespeare lovers.
